Is this true? I feel like the only text changes I've noticed in the many different productions over the years have involved Growltiger's Last Stand (due to budget and vocal abilities) and Pekes and the Pollicles. I don't think I've really seen much deviation beyond that?

That said... I'd imagine they'll play around with things a lot here... and I think that's what the poster was asking. How much changing is going to go on? Someone mentioned Company... they changed the text to make that work. This isn't the same situation... or is it? Anyone know?"

Let's use purely Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer from Cats as an example. It started out as a slow Jazzy song in London sung by the pair, when it moved to Broadway the characters didn't even exist for many years. Instead the song was sung by Quxio while two other Cats in Trash costumes acted out in a more familiar version of the song. It wasn't until the late 80s I believe that what has become the standard version set in.

The order in which the songs feature in the beginning vary as well. The revival combined Pekes and the Pollicles with some of Growltiger. Japan had a Kabuki influence in their make up and  costume design. Rum Tum Tugger was depicted as Elvis instead of Mick Jagger.

I think this has legs. Bustopher Jones is totally the suburban executive golf & country club realness. Which seems like the furthest stretch to make, but it’s a legitimate category at a ball!

I absolutely ADORE how odd this concept is and hope to be in town to see it.  The show has never not been a theatrical pageant - so this might work quite well.  Rooting for it.

That has to be the worst promo I’ve seen. A bunch of people in p*say grabber hats dancing in street clothes in a pretty unexciting way in a non-theatrical setting? I’m hoping this is VERY early rehearsal footage at best. This has so much potential. Still, it won’t be worst Webber revival of the year, Sarah has that in her handbag.

Have to admit I was skeptical when this was first announced, but that clip sold me. Huge fan of Omari and definitely see his hand on that choreo.

This doesn't strike me as the type of production that's going to spare any expense on costumes.  Kind of a big part of ballroom culture, no?

There's something thrilling about the choreography in that video and how they're moving forward the entire time.  I love the idea for this and think it could be such a fun production.  Also love that we're apparently now in the "ALW reimagined" era.

Errr what? This is clearly shot in a rehearsal room. And exactly one dancer is wearing a black beanie that has cat ears on it.

Your dumb ass is really up here calling Ballroom "non-theatrical"? It's literally rehearsal footage in a rehearsal hall. Are you familiar with how anything works?

I’ve had a ticket for a while, but this short clip engaged me more than any clip from the original production (which I’ve never seen on stage) ever has, with the exception of Betty Buckley singing “Memory.” The choreography is just so un-fussy and un-bothered, but totally in sync with the music. I can’t wait.

I said I hoped this was rehearsal footage and it was very untheatrical. I'm well aware what ballroom culture is and the theatricality involved, I've helped organize a few. This clip did not really resonate as "ballroom" for me. As for Paris Is Burning, I have had the movie memorized for more than half my life. So, let's hope the arrow this production shoots goes real high and we can shout "hooray for you"!

I still have high hopes for this production and don't understand how my critique of an advertisement was an indication of my knowledge and experience with ballroom culture or what the final production of this show will be like. LOL
